POLYTEMPORAL TEXTURES
- SANDY DE LISSOVOY
Polytemporal Textures is the debut Berlin solo exhibition of US American artist, Sandy de Lissovoy, who lives and works as an artist and professor of art in Lexington, VA. Trained originally as a musician, de Lissovoy evokes in his exhibition title the kind of music in which differing tempos are layered simultaneously, sounding both harmonious and discordant. For this exhibition de Lissovoy’s works are both sculptural and environmental, and the textile installation implies rich textural references: surfaces, colors, geology, and soil. Inspired by landscape and man-made structures that shelter humans from elements, de Lissovoy’s work interweaves time and place with his choice and staging of materials: natural dyed textiles and the language of tent poles. The artist packs and unpacks the artwork to be shown both in the mountains and in the gallery.
